Cut from the movie, but still in the ROTS novelization:
Yoda did not move. "Eternal life..."
(Qui-Gon's spirit) The ultimate goal of the Sith, yet they can never achieve it; it comes only by the release of self, not the exhaltation of self. It comes through compassion, not greed. Love is the answer to the darkness.
"Become one with the Force, yet influence still to have..." Yoda mused. "A power greater than all it is."
(Qui-Gon's spirit) It cannot be granted; it can only be taught. It is yours to learn, if you wish it.
There's the answer, albeit from Yoda, not Obi-Wan.

Although this don't pertain to the scene change, just thinking about the duel between Kenobi and Vader, What exactly was Ben Kenobi doing when vader struck him??. . . Looks like Ben Just lets wader kill him.
I mean Ben positions his saber in front of him holding it up vertically and closes his eyes... Then vader kills him.

Vader doesn't kill Kenobi. Kenobi let the Force absorb him.

| I think Obi-Wan wanted Vader to strike him down in front of Luke, just like when Qui-Gon was killed in front of him. I think that helped Obi-Wan stay on the light side. Because if he had gone over to the dark side it would have tarnished his mentor's memory.

Given what we NOW (after ROTS) know about Qui-Gon's "training" that Yoda passed on to Obi-Wan, it would seem that Ben Kenobi was preparing himself to join the Force.
It's ironic that the very thing Anakin betrayed the jedi order (learning how to cheat death) was something only the Jedi could understand, and not the Sith.
"Escape is not his plan..I must face him alone"
Aparently not, just not in the way Vader expected. I think he assumed Kenobi was there to finish what they started on Mustafar. When in fact, he was merely providing the disraction to allow Luke to rescue his sister. Think about it: what were the chances of the gang making it to the Falcon, with a squad of stormtroopers t the door?
