I can't belive it. They sold out of Republic and Obsession. Shocked Evidently everyone who would have come in over about 2 weeks decided to pick up their copies before I could make it in on Saturday. They're ordering them for me but I won't be able to get them until next week. :evil

Good news is I had them order me the first two issues of Samurai while they were at it.

The fight between Anakin and Durge in Obsession was good, but that's really all that happened in the issue. Well, technically, Obi-Wan was proven correct in thinking Asajj Ventress is alive, but that took half a page.

As for Republic, I'm starting to think they're making Vos' story too long. I'm starting to have trouble remembering who's who and what's what. I know Vos is set on finding the second Sith, but it's starting to get confusing on who some of these other people are. For example, I cannot for the life of me remember who Sora Bulq is, and he's the guy Vos thinks in the Sith.

And what's Master Tholme doing in this issue?

I guess I'll need to go back and re-read some of the previous issues when I have a chance.

Yesterday I picked up several titles:

SW:Empire #29- fairly decent issue. Jabimm goes from being a rainy world to a parched world, they've been fighting everyone (including their own government) for decades, and the natives are still living in the past Rolling Eyes I'd say the Alliance should just leave 'em to their own devices Twisted Evil

SW: Tales #22- I was impressed. I bought the one with the "Iwo Jima" cover. "Marooned" is my favorite thus far; the stranded Biker Scout and Rebel Commando exchanging stories and sarcasm was good, but the end kinda made you think: How would an Imperial soldier, especially a Stormtrooper/Biker Scout, survive in a peaceful society after their own forces basically abandoned them (or they were captured), after years of indoctrination?

I also picked SW: Jango Fett TPB (Zam Wessel never looked so good Very Happy ), The Protocol Offensive (I should have spent my money on something else Confused ) and the Chewbacca TPB (which was pretty good)

Finally picked up all the issues and I managed to get the "Iwo Jima" cover for Tales #22 instead of being stuck with the photo cover. Very Happy

I've only had time to read Republic #73 so far. I enjoyed it. Quinn is really starting to lose it. How can he believe Sora Bulq is the second Sith simply because the Anzati saw him? I was glad to see Master Zao again. The page where Sora attacks Tholme while Aayla is there in hologram was cool. You could see her wanting to join the fight but not being able.

Unfortunately I was only able to get #2 of Samurai: Heaven and Earth. if anyone sees #1 let me know, or grab it and I'll pay you back.

Finally caught up on all my comics reading!

Empire #29 was good, but I don't have a clue how they're going to stretch this out into a 5-issue storyline. Still, Luke and Leia being held captive by hostile's Anakin screwed over during the Clone Wars should be fun.

Tales #22 was so late I honetly couldn't recall what happened in "Nomad," Chapter 1. Other than that little distraction, I enjoyed this story. Nice little twist at the end.

I'm sure I'll have forgotten what happened in chapter 2 by the time chapter 3 comes out, though.

"Honor Bound" seemed like a throw-away story about throw-away characters. And the writer got a little too wink-wink, nudge-nudge with Yoda's last lines. Rolling Eyes

"Marooned," though, was excelent. Only 14 pages, but this is the type of story they should have more of. I realize all the Clone Wars stories tend to be serious, but sometimes they get too serious. Here we have a nice, little post-Jedi story that was just fun. Not the slapstick comedy some people apparently didn't like, but just an interesting two-person story meant to amuse.

Hey Mary, I'll see if Manhattan has an extra Samurai #1 in stock Wink

As for SW: Tales, I'm waiting to see whether or not they'll bother picking up where they left off on that Dirty Dozen inspired story from issue #21 (it took several months for #22 to hit the stands, so I'm not holding my breath Confused )

I really liked that one, especially the part where they find the crashed Star Destroyer, that he refered to as "home."

Called my comic shop today, Mary, they sold out of Samurai, but Ron Marz himself told me on another board that the second printing should be available for order later this week.

Thanks for the help Mike and Don. I'll call my shop and see if they can get that for me. I'm glad they decided to do a second printing for all of us who found out about too late. I bet Ron Marz was feeling pretty good that it sold out so quickly.

btw a patron was telling me that there was a Star Wars/X-Men crossover comic. He evidently has it. Have any of you heard anything about this?

Seeing is believing Wink if in fact they did make something like that, my guess is, they did it back in the 70's when Marvel still wrote the series (and the storylines were a lot more absurd and comical then they are now)

Must be nice having a one-of-a-kind comic. Star Wars has never done a crossover comic. Now Star Trek has had a few with Marvel.

Finally remembered to post about Clone Wars Adventures Vol. 3.

"A Stranger in Town" was just incredibly fun. Yoda enters some town somewhere with his huge box strapped to his back. Turns out the town's being plagued by Seperatists. Well, the Seperatists move on the town and Yoda walks to the front. The Seperatist leader's like, "One Jedi? That's all?"

Then Yoda opens his box. That's all I'm saying.

"Rogue's Gallery" was Grievous vs. Asajj Ventress and Durge. It was good, but Grievous looked funny.

"The Package" was okay. It showed how cutthroat the clones can be, but I saw the ending coming from a mile away. And this would have worked better as an episode of the animated series. All-action stories don't translate well into comics. You just lose too much of the fluidity.

"One Battle" had the same problem. It was a lot like the Mace-centric epsiode of the animated series: One Jedi vs. countless battle droids. An interesting concept, but it just doesn't work one panel at a time.

Oh, yeah, second printing of Samurai: Heaven and Earth is out this Wednesday.

Finally caught up on Tales and Obsession, I liked this issue of Tales, so far so good. The clone story was good. I like seeing them in action. The Jedi story is making a little more sense. So he's chasing this bad guy and we know he's a bad guy because he kills people all the time and evidently somethings broken, maybe the next issue will explain what. The Endor story was ok. I wish they hadn't made the kid look so much like Luke but it was good.

Obsession was ok. I thought Anakin's fight with Durge went on a little too long and its good that they finally brought Bail in so there will be some truth to the "You served my father in the Clone Wars....."

The guy who did the comic must be the same one who draws/drew for Dragon magazine... "Phil & Dixie" and a few others Cool

Star Wars: General Grievous #1 is out. I haven't read it yet, but flipping through it, it looks kind of bland.
