This has been explained to me once as you need two jedi to preform this trick. Is this true about force running?

I remember hearing something about that, because if it didn't, Obi-wan would have force ran during the final duel with Darth Maul to get to Qui-gon before he was trapped.

Or it could be that Lucas just needed Obi-wan and Qui-gon to get out alive at the beginning of TPM! Razz

Actually, you can Force run all by yourself in Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.

I think the in-universe explanation I've always heard is that fighting with another Force user strains one's ability to use the Force...as opposed to using it agaisnt a simple droid. In other words, Obi-Wan was too exhausted to crank up the speed and go "Dash" (The Incredibles) on the scene.

From a writing aspect...they needed a way to escape the Destroyer Droids, while at the same time seperating him and Qui-Gon from Darth Maul.

Watching the Clone Wars Volume 1 on DVD, I noticed something with the introduction of Asajj Ventress. During her attempt to prove herself to Dooku in the arena, she does a LOT of Force running by herself without any help from another Force user.
