I wonder if Anakin/Vader realizes he's no spring chicken anymore either when he says this...

No, he still thinks he's a summer bee. But the fight they have(when compared to Episode III) is pathetic.

I heard some where GL wanted the fights to be diffrent in the first 3 compared to the last 3. He wanted the 4,5,6 fightsto be more noble and 1,2,3 fights sceens to be more excititng. So i heard

Yeah, or movie technology was just lame back then, hence the fights being lame... and he's just using his "stylized" justification as a cop out.

GL has said that the ANH battle was supposed to be rather tame. Obi-Wan was a much older jedi and Vader's broke down body/cybernetics were actually more restrictive then helpful. It also helps when you consider the age of the actors involved and limited fighting choreograhy at the time.
I think Vader was simply trash talking with Obi-Wan. His arrogance about the superiority of his armor coming out in his banter with Obi-Wan. A good response from Obi-Wan (if GL could anticipate how ROTS would be like) would have been:
Obi-Wan: "Oh yeah, let me get the high ground again and we'll try that ((mocking tone)) Don't underestimate my power ((/mocking)) thing one more time. Ah... crispy?"

I like the dueling portion of the Episode III game...
Ben: "I should have left you on Tatooine!"
And he could have added insult to injury: "...little slave boy!"

Well don't forget that as far as the fight in ANH goes, GL was trying to show that the lightsaber is a high energy weapon and takes great strength to use. Hence a rather boring fight sequence. Only later did they start getting away from that idea, and used one handed attacks and such. Not to mention that Anakin's fighting style changed after becoming Vader. His guard is mainly centered now to not only counter his suits physical limitations, but also to protect his life support controls on his chest. This style of saber fighting is heavy to look at to say the least. As for Kenobi... give the guy a break! He's not exactly a youngster anymore, I'm suprised he didn't need viagra just to get his saber up!

Yeah, age didn't seem to slow down Palpatine or Dooku (over 80 in real life during AOTC and ROTS) either...

I wouldn't call it a "cop out" because (from strictly a film-making view) fencing and swordsmanship in movies wasn't that common until recently.
Take for example Bob Anderson, look at the early part of his career, swordfighting in movies wasn't that big a deal until around the time AFTER Star Wars came out. Later on, this guy trained Bandaras for Zorro, Vigo for LOTR, and PLAYED Darth Vader in ESB (which everyone argees was the best of the OT) This guy is considered a legend in the field, and most of his work was post-ANH.
Nowadays (and partially because of SW) you get movies all the time that feature and to some degree showcase swordfighting, so over the years the degree of technical skill had to constatntly be reved up.

Difference between generalizing a personal point of view and summarizing a majority opinion from a number of other "good conversation" (not "debates" ) on the subject. But I see your point...my bad.
On other boards/discussions, ESB most of the time edges out the ANH and ROTJ saber fights in popularity. My personal opinion is that ANH comes in 2nd because kids get all nostalgic over it being the 1st SW movie.
