On the bright side, if so many of us are going to miss going to Celebration IV...we should do something that weekend. The 1st All-Ohio cookout among the Ohio Fanforce chapters was known as "Celebration 2.5" cause it was just weeks after CII.

I was thinking the same thing, too much money. However, hotel costs aren't nearly as bad as I thought they would be. Kim booked a room at one of the hotels already and she said it was $134 a night. Holiday Inn nearby has rooms for $139. That's cheaper than what I paid to share a room with others at the Marriott. They were $150 a night.
Now the air fare is the problem. Best I've heard (but no one has done the homework to check yet) is about $300 round trip. Taking my family along too because there is no way they are gonna let me to LA without them makes it very expensive.
I will try what I can to get there but it's probably not going to happen.

I don't care about the exclusive figure. I will go just to see Amy again but as far as standing in line a whole day for a crappy figure that is worth nothing now...no thanks!

Dang!  I was just out there (Anaheim & San Fran) from the 24th-31st. No way I can do it again next year. I'm all for the Celebration 2.5!!

c'mon guys...just start saving money....stop buying these hasbro figs and you will have at least a couple hundred to spare...all chip in and crash in one hotel room...book your flight early and you can get deals as cheap as $250 round trip...I go out there a lot so I know there are deals like that...constantly check continental and southwest for good deals!

The trick is going to be (based on C3) that the folks organizing Celebration 4 will (probably) have all the hotels in and around the convention center reserved. Last time, we ended up booking our hotel room (on our own) then cancelled that for a better room (for less) in the same hotel through Hyperspace.

And the same could be said for MR and all the other more expensive collectibles; it's all a matter of personal preference.
It's also very early to be making travel plans for Celebration 4, cause so far nothing has been offered/announced through Hyperspace yet.

I know I'm totally late to this thread, but I'd just like to reiterate what I've said in a couple of other places: I can't go, as I'm graduating that weekend. However, I will be graduating in costume (yaaaay for Oberlin not requiring caps and gowns), and I'd love to have other costumed people there. So those of you who can't make it are totally invited to my graduation. It's outside in Tappan Square, which is gorgeous in the summer, and I've been given the mission of out-doing my friend who graduated in Jedi robes. Also, since I am automatically out of the game for CIV, I want to make the most of this momentous event.
Besides, it'll likely be the end of my time in the Cleveland area, since I'll be leaving for either grad school or a job next year. So y'all should totally come and help me make a spectacle.
