There is always talk about why didn't GL touch-up the lightsaber effects in the AHN Special Edition, between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader.

Personally, I think that was such a moment in movie (not just SW) history that I was glad to see it was left alone...imperfections and all.

Not to mention that when GL decides to "fix" something, sometimes he just screws it up! *cough*Han and Greedo

I agree! It was!
Han is a smuggles and a scoundrel. While he does have a soft spot, I don't think he would have had any compunction in shotting someone who has him at blasterpoint.
The way it is in SE is just stupid. Who would miss from that close?

I agree, the Greedo shooting first was horrible. Han went from a real scoundrel who wouldn't hesitate to defend himself by shooting first to innocent victim honorably defending himself. He's not suppose to be honorable in ANH. That is part of his character developent through ESB and ROTJ. Lucas took it away from him.
Besides his shoot-first cynicism contrasts nicely with Luke's more wide-eyed innocence and Obi-Wan's nobility.

Interesting thing, on the DVD commentary track, about the Obi-Wan/Vader duel:
"In this particular rendition, Vader was half man/half machine...Obi-Wan was pretty much an old man. And so this fight was a hard fight for them. It wasn't a acrobatic, jump around, fast fight. It was a kinda hard fight to fight. Because they were both old jedi"
Some of this might be after-the-fact justification for Alec Guiness' age, or the limits of theatrical swordfighting of the time...but it's interesting to hear GL reason this type of details out. Or as he said later on:
"They're very simple, kinda not really that important...but in the end, they actually are. And you have to solve it"

But Vader was still tough enough to take out a young, acrobatic vibrant Luke in ESB, and its not even close.

Come thinking about it, I was watching it last night.
Ben Kenobi tells Vader: If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine. .
What was he meaning by that? Become a jedi spirit?

(Having seen ROTS) I guess you could say that Obi-Wan was hinting that had indeed gone through some training by Qui-Gon's jedi spirit...and knew how to preserve himself after death within the Force. At the time, we all sorta took it to mean that Obi-Wan had faith that he would live on, in a manner Darth Vader couldn't comprehend, through the Force.
It's ironic, the very thing Palpatine used (and couldn't provide) that brought Anakin to the dark side...his "fatherly figure" Qui-Gon shared with the remaining jedi, including Anakin's "brother" Obi-Wan. Imagine how great a jedi he could have been, if he'd stayed with the jedi.
