Here's something to think about...
IF Jango had survived, would he have fought for Count Dooku and the Separatists? He was the original sample by which all of the Republic's clone army was made from. So...basically, he would be facing an army of himself?
Something I found amusing, when you look at the cover for the AOTC novelization...Jango is standing in fornt of (supposedly leading) an army of clonetroopers.

Well, I think that Jango would have fought with who ever paid him the most! Also since I doubt he liked Jedi, I would guess it is hard for him to side with the Republic...

They couldn't allow Jango to survive... it would break the GL tradition of killing off the cool, popular characters everyone likes and keeping the ones that few people like or are there for comic relief and don't take seriously

But...are they "cool" because they aren't around for long? Just think about how popular Odd-job is within the James Bond franchise...and he wasn't around much either!
Yes, Jango had that whole..."I am your father" thing with the clones and Boba, and sure he's the envisionment of what Boba Fett fans have built that character into through EU...but is he really TAHT cool?
Yeah!

| It is not possible for Jango to survive. It would mess up the whole story.

Understandably, this is kinda like those "Infinities" discussions that are more about the what if... of some subtle twist to the SW storyline then how things actually turned out.
For example, in the Boba Fett series of young adult books...Boba learns the secret that Count Dooku and Tyranius are in fact the same person. IF Jango had survived the battle of Geonosis, would he use that kinda knowledge to make a deal with the Republic? Would he join the fight (as a hired mercenary) against an army of himself?
I found that picture (my first post) interesting because while there is a visual theme they are trying to convey...and maybe throw fans off track until the movie was released...but it seemed odd to have Jango front and center for the army of his clones.

| Jango Fett was Mandalorian. He became one when they adopted him on Concord Dawn after the Death Watch killed his parents. After his mentor Jaster Mareel died, Montross tried to become Mandalore. Because Montross played a role in Jaster's death, he lost the vote to Jango who became Mandalore. Montross left the Mandalorians to become a free lance bounty hunter. After the Battle of Galidraan, all the remaining Mandolorians were killed except for Jango, who managed to kill 20 jedi with his bare hands. Count Dooku learned of Jango from a surviving Death Watch soldier. The Death Watch were once Mandalorians, but got tired of Jaster's code of honor. Led by Vizsla (who killed Jaster) they wreaked havoc throughout the galaxy until Jango killed them all.

Boba Fett was also Mandalorian, because Jango brought him up in the Mandolorian ways. Before Jango died, Boba had passed the Mandlorian rite of manhood, making him officially Mando. Jodo Kast was only a poser.
Oh, I forgot to add this to the other post. Jango killed Montross during the hunt for Komari Vosa. This hunt was a contest between the two to see which was better. Count Dooku would use the winner for a clone template. Another story of Jango's recruitment is told in Open Seasons, but it is much less exciting.

I'd have to agree with Emily... Jango was mercenary through and through. So he'd fight for whoever paid him the most.

| Ah yes, back on topic. I believe Jango would continue to fight for the CIS. Over his dead body would he fight for the Jedi. If you read Jango Fett: Open Seasons you will know why.
