I go to Carol and John's Comics at Camms Corners, Rocky River Dr. and Lorain Rd. If they don't have it in stock they are really great about ordering it for me.

I picked up Empire #31

It was...alright, for a side-story. I was hoping to see the outcome of the Jabimm situation this issue, but it looks like I'll have to wait another month Razz

The scene on the Star Destroyer bridge with Vadre Force-Choking the mercs...interesting.

Star Wars Tales...the last issue I picked up was the Endor/stranded Scout & Rebel issue...I haven't been able to find the next one yet...

Dark Horse has decided make a lot of changes to the Star Wars comics. Tales is being discontinued after Issue #24 due out tentatively 07/06/05. DH says it never sold very well so its no surprise it’s being cut. The last confirmed issues of Republic are #81-83, which will be a John Ostrander and Jan Duursema collaboration. Empire is expected to end after the Sunber arc #36-. They contradicted themselves at first saying it may not be the last issue then later said it was ending.

It sounds like they have a bunch of new stories in the works. They mentioned a 3-part X-wing story with Luke and Wedge but would not confirm it. DH also said there would be more stories in the Republic and Empire eras eventually. There will also be a Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures Volume 4 later in the year.

Mike it sounds like you’re missing #23. It came out a few of weeks ago on May 11th.

I'm not too worried about Tales, to be honest.

Empire though... that's a shame. I really like that series.

Republic...well, that makes sense, now that ROTS is out and the Jedi were slaughtered.

I'll contact Recess and find out if they can back-order the last Tales

I picked up Republic #76 Seige of Saleucami Part 3 this week. Things are really heating up, Rolling Eyes pun intended. It's very fast paced, really advances the plot and leaves you at a great cliffhanger. All the characters from this series are in it one way or another. Plenty of lightsaber action, things exploding and a couple of great plot twists. At least one I saw coming and one I didn't. The art is up to Duursema's usual high standards.

Only one more issue left for the pre-ROTS Republic comics then its on to a few post_ROTS issues before its cancelled.

Which did you see coming and which didn't you see coming? I'm assuming you mean Tholme being alive and Khaleen working for Dooku. Honestly, I didn't see either of those coming. But then again, I haven't been following Republic all that closely, lately.

I suspected Tholm wasn't dead. He's been too important a character to kill off gratuitously and since I didn't see his dead body I knew he had to be alive somehow. I had forgotten he could remove himself from the Force so that was a surprise. I was not expecting Khaleen's plot twist. I thought she would be killed by Skorr or one of the others in an attempt to push Quinn over to the darkside. Having her a double agent was cool and how they handled her confessing up to Quinn was great, great storyline and great visuals! Aayla and Bosk fighting each other was not really a surprise. I really like the panel where she realizes Tholm was alive. That was a nice touch.

Now we just have to wait another month to find out how it ends. Since "Master Vos" was mentioned in ROTS we know which side of the Force he ends up on but not how.

Well, this is the issue he finally chose the light side so I suspect the next issue is gonna just be one big fight between him and all the bad guys he can get his hands on.

I just checked out the Dark Horse website; seems Empire might be lasting to at least issue #40 (five part story). Who knows, maybe it'll last awhile longer Cool

Empire #32 was a nice variation on a familiar theme. One of the good guys is captured and another of them has to lead the rescue. Only this time, it's Luke who's been captured and Leia (the only person captured in all three OT movies) who is going to have to save him.

Next issue, of course. Wink

Slightly off topic, Ron Marz's Samurai: Heaven and Earth returns on August 10th. This will be issue 4 of 5.

After reading Empire #30 & 32...the Jabiimi...what a bunch of dinglenuts Rolling Eyes Sounds like the Alliance should have just left those guys alone. Since they can't take their hatred out on the original source of their betrayal, they go after some kid who had nothing to do with it, except share the same bloodline. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the Jabiim story concludes.

Issue #32 wasn't too bad- more shots of Dantels, speeder bikes and plenty of action.

I picked up SW: Tales #24 as well. It wasn't worth the money...

I'm just curious whether the last few had any continuation of that TIE Pilot/"Dirty Dozen" story they started a couple issues back. I haven't been able to find them to take a look...

I agree with you there. They are so busy nursing their grudges they are destroying any chance of a future for their planet. I can't see much of a happy ending for them. The story was good though its been stretched out so long I've forgotten most of the beginning. I do look forward to seeing Leia being the one to ride to the rescue.

No Mike, they haven't had any more TIE Pilot/"Dirty Dozen" stories. I was disappointed they didn't. Thats not to say they won't show up again. According to the news out of Comic Con there will be a new series called Rebellion that takes place during the OT. The very first story of the series features Sunber. Looks like DH realized they had created a popular charcter. Maybe someone will pick up the tie pilots for a story. The x-wing stories have been so popular I don't see why they wouldn't bring out more tie pilot stories.

The other new series is Knights of the Old Republic and starts four years before the video game. Both are due to start in Jan '06.For the full write up go www.darkhorse.com/zone...editor.php

OUTSTANDING!

So I wonder if they're going to keep Empire running alongside Rebellion? Keep the Imperial side of things different from the Rebel Alliances point of view?

Yeah, they definately need to run a series on TIE Pilots...not another "Baron Fel", but something different.

Wow, talk about going out with a whimper. There isn't one story in the final issue of Star Wars Tales worth reading. Even the always-funny Kevin Rubio misfires this issue.

"Marked" is the tale of one of Darth Maul's tests to be Sidious' apprentice. A fight to the death with some alien guy. Gee, I wonder who'll win.

"Fett Club" is Rubio's apparent parody of the movie Fight Club. At least I think it is, I haven't seen the movie. It has two funny gags in twelve pages.

"Unseen, Unheard" is... Okay, I got no clue what the hell they were going for with this story.

Finally, "Nomad, Chapter Four." I think this story was meant to be a homage to Stephen King's novel The Gunslinger, but it never clicked with me. At all. (Neither did King's novel, for that matter.)

Anyway, Star Wars Tales is dead. And ever since they got all "relevant" and "intellectual," I'd have to call this a mercy killing.
