Episode III had a great plot & some really cool action shots, but Kashyyyk was done all wrong. I could have done better @ designing it! Because of the way it looked in Episode III, now all of the post-trilogy books are all basically nullified if Kashyyyk is mentioned (unless "Insider" can come up with an excuse to patch this one up...). For example, Timothy Zhan's "Heir to the Empire" has a good portion of it taking place on Kashyyyk; the Kashyyyk that is very well depicted in the "Essential Guide to Planets and Moons":
"...wroshyr trees cover its surface, stretching several kilometers from the planet's sheltered surface...species that could climb higher...did so...The survivors now thrive in the towering wroshyr forests...Visitors are generally safe as long as they remain among the highest of the interlaced branches...Below a certain level...predators are the only visible things in the utter darkness. Very few have touched the soil of Kashyyyk and lived to tell about it."
Even just this fragment of whats in the book shows how wrong the concept artists were. Did they ever pick up a book? Oh, and there were way too many clouds on Tatooine @ the end.

Georgie does what Georgie wants. He didn't want that style of Kashyyyk, so he redesigned it. It's ultimately his universe, and whatever happens in EU stays in EU.

Yes and didn't his tradition of how Kashyyyk looked started in The Holiday Special?! Maybe he changed the looks of Kashyyyk so he could further deny that he ever did THS.

People,we are talking about and ENTIRE planet. Just because what you saw on sceen doesn't match what was previously written doesn't mean anything.
Does Ohio look like Iraq? Does Iraq look like Brazil? Maybe the battle we saw in RoTS took place on a differant part of the planet.

Its George's universe...would you all be more happy if he had just not created ANY of the movies....he does what he wants, just like we all do.

Ah, and here comes the problem. The artist has created something so big, so huge, that it's no longer under his complete control. He's delegated bits and pieces off to enthusiastic souls that he trusts to continue his story. He tries to be an Auteur, and yet he lets people play in his driveway with his name on the licensing.
Have it one way, or have it the other, and that's fine. But don't try to be a control freak and let people mess around in your galaxy.
Just my $0.02.

I have to agree with Jim. What you see in the film is actually a small fraction of the entire planet.
On the other hand, I've always been one to think that the films supercede any EU source, and loathe the EU for its continuity errors. Though I might have to start warming up to it with no more movies.

You do have a point, that was only a section right near the beach, so theoretically the foliage would be of decreasing size and densety.
And as for the Lucas thing, DWH has an excilent point. Let's create a Is George Doing The Right Thing thread and continue the talks there...but let's not go into complete George bashing mode unless it's absolutely nesscicary.(This may be difficult, especially for me...hehehe)

Very good point Jim. I can rest easy now, GL does know what he is doing.

Aw, c'mon! I said the prequels were good, and I don't want to start a "George is all wrong" topic. I did do some in-dept studying before presenting this topic, and according the the "Guide to Planets", under the summary, it does say:
Terrain:
Wroshyr forests
While I don't contradict what "Coyote" wrote, the book does not mention any other terrain (also not mentioned in the EU books). I don't entirely disagree with his point, but does any other part of Tattooine look like anything but desert? What about Hoth? Anyhow, it's good to see that there are some theories out there. Thanks for the response. I've been curious to see what other's had to say. I guess it can be suggested either way & still be right.
I think one of my other biggest problems was that Chewie was there. Sure he's a cool character, but his village of Rwookrrorro (I think...), was most definitely not on the shore & he really had no reason to be there. He should have been defending his own village.
I'll admit I'm a HUGE geek, or whatever you all want to call me, so don't mind the extra facts...

I think the main problem is "good old" George turned the Wookies into Bigfoots (or would it be bigfeet?). Hands with FINGERS? FINGERS???? This makes no sense. Not to site EU, but they have retractable claws, always have, always will. Did anyone see fingers on Chewie in the OT? That's because he has RETRACTABLE CLAWS! AGH!!!
:: runs away screaming about claws ::
:: later shows up at a Star Trek convention with a long beard and know recolection of anything Star Wars ::

| Kashyyyk was done wrong. They could have had a few more shots of the homes of the Wookies as well as other cool scenery. And there could have been more indepth wookie characters (of course including Chewie). But hey, the movie was amazing anyways.

Alright, Kashyyyk
in my opinion the city we see in E3 is a coastal city... I'm sure it goes more 'Holiday Special' the further you go in...
That's the way I look at it anyway, lol.
