If you've recently been part of one of the many local charity fundraising events in the area, you may have recognized some characters from a galaxy far, far, away. The truth is... those people are ALL from northeastern Ohio, and they are part of The Jedi Knights of Cleveland's continuing effort to support local charities.

Recently, The Jedi Knights of Cleveland were featured on Bantha Tracks Online for being very invloved with local charities. That's a reputation we are very proud to continue, and the following is a recap of our most recent events:

Back on August 28th, a group of both costumed and non-costumed members of The Jedi Knights of Cleveland were at Jacob's Field for the American Heart Association Heartwalk. This group volunteered to work one of the water stations along the AHA Heartwalk route, which ran through downtown Cleveland. No word yet if "Slider" qualifies under either Rebel Legion or 501st costuming standards!

On September 17th, a squad of our local Ohio Garrison members walked 10k around the Cleveland Metropark Zoo, to help raise money for the Juvenille Diabetes Research Foundation. Over 4,000 participants attended JDRF Walk Day, including our Ohio Garrison team, and helped raise $890,000.00 in the fight against diabetes.

While the Empire marched on the Metroparks, another team of Jedi, Stormtroopers, non costumed JKOC members (including a youngling) were at Akron University in support of their American Heart Association Heartwalk event. This was the second year JKOC was asked to operate one of the water stations for the Akron AHA walk, and we were pleased to be able to send a group once again. Many of the participants stopped for a cup of water, some took pictures, and everyone enjoyed the fun atmosphere...before the stormtroopers ordered them to "Move Along!"
