Elyria Library - UPDATE Tuesday, November 08, 2005 (05:58:53)

The Jedi Knights of Cleveland were pleased to be part of the Elyria Public Library's "Revenge of the Sith" event.
The library was hosting two screenings of "Revenge of the Sith", along with a day of Star Wars themed activities and games for children to have fun. Kids could build their own lightsaber using pretzles, create personalized Star Wars buttons, or just check out the library's vast assortment of Star Wars reading materials.
For a complete recap of the day, you could visit Jocasta Nu in the Jedi Library, or visit the Jedi Archives
All the major Star Wars fan groups in the area made contributions to the event. As always, count on The Ohio Star Wars Collectors Club for an impressive display of their member's Star Wars merchandise collections.
If that wasn't enough to bring local fans to that "Galaxy Far, Far, Away"... several members of The Jedi Knights of Cleveland as well as our friends at Ohio Garrison and Rebel Legion were on hand in a variety of costumes: clonetroopers, Imperial stormtroopers, several Jedi, northeast Ohio's first ever Tusken Raider, bounty hunters, and even Princess Leia made an appearance and posed for pictures with dozens of kids throught the day.
And it wasn't just the costuming groups that got dressed up for the occasion. The library held a special costume contest, with three members of The Jedi Knights of Cleveland serving as judges. The kids were divided up into different age groups and awarded for both the accuracy and creativity of their costumes. In the end, several younglings walked away with some great Star Wars related prizes and (more importantly) everyone had fun!
We'd like to take a moment and thank the everyone at Elyria Public Library, especially our very own Malo-Ha for organizing such a wonderful event! |
