Welcome to The Jedi Knights of Cleveland.com

Like The Jedi Code, there are some things about our organization everyone needs to know. The following are some of the basic rules and commonly asked questions for the JKOC

How do I join The Jedi Knights of Cleveland?
The answer is real simple, anyone is more than welcome to join. There are no membership fees, and registering with us is free.

What kind of things do The Jedi Knights of Cleveland do?
We do more than just watch movies and surf the Internet. At least every other month, we try to hold an official "meeting" where we can discuss anything related to our group in-person. It's also a nice way to get to know our other members. We also have members involved with making fan films, writing fan fiction and building costumes in the Star Wars genre. One of our more recent projects is finding, not only Star Wars fans from the Cleveland area, but other Star Wars fan groups as well.

 June Meeting
Its meeting time again. We will be having our June meeting next Sunday July 22, at egbert park in the Bedford reservation (tinkers creek area). We are going to attempt to get the pavilion, if we don't there are plenty of trees for shade and several grills for cooking.

 November Meeting
Back by popular demand, The Jedi Knights of Cleveland will be having their next general meeting at the home of Jedi_Hajile, kenobilover, and the other 2/3 of our membership (ie: their children). Seriously, we're very greatful they have graciously offered to host another JKOC meeting.

While there will be a chance for the members of JKOC to talk, the main theme of this event is to simply have fun. Plans are underway to have a variety of PS2, Xbox, and other Star Wars themed video games on hand. And never rule out the possibility of a marathon round of Star Wars Trivial Pursuit during the course of the day. Good food, good friends, and Star Wars...doesn't get much more JKOC then that!

Date: Sunday, November 12th
Time: 3:00pm-? (yes, we know it's a school night)
Location: Wadsworth

Please RSVP on the JKOC Event Announcment thread ASAP. If you just registered here at JKOC.com or do not have access to the Event Announcment forum, contact one of the web admins and they will get some droids on the problem right away.

Cleveland Metroparks "Boo at the Zoo"
On Saturday, October 28th, celebrate a fun night out with The Jedi Knights of Cleveland at the 8th annual Cleveland Metropark's Boo at the Zoo.

Every year, Boo at the Zoo transforms The Cleveland Metropark Zoo into a safe Halloween themed event. In addition to viewing the many animals on exhibit, come see the all new "Creepy Crawly Critter Live Animal Show." Other attractions include: the Monster Mash Dance Party, the Not-So-Haunted Greenhouse, the Jack-O-Lantern Express Train Ride, the Halloween Hay Maze, puppet shows, magic shows and much more. Kids (as "younglings" as we often refer to them) receive a complimentary treat bag. Meanwhile, both kids and adults are encouraged to wear fun (not scary) costumes. If you have any questions, visit the Event Announcment forums for more details.

Lightsabers are ok (we asked), but as Wuher once said, "no blasters...no blasters!"

Visit the Cleveland Metropark Zoo website to purchase tickets. If you are looking to go the night of the JKOC visit to Boo at the Zoo, you will need to purchase your own tickets prior to the event. Please remember to purchase your tickets for October 28th to be part of the JKOC group outing. Cleveland Metroparks Zoo offers no refunds or exchanges on internet orders, and Boo at the Zoo is open whether it looks like Kamino or Naboo outside...so check the weather report before heading out.

 JKOC helping in the community...again!
September is always a busy time for many worthy charity events: heartwalks, fundraisers for cancer research, and organizations looking for the cure to a variety of disease that effect children. If there was ever a time for The Jedi Knights of Cleveland to get involved...now's the time!

In what has become an annual event for us, The American Heart Association asked if any of our local Rebel Legion and 501st members would be available to be part the AHA Heartwalk. This year's event (hosted by Akron University) would be the third year in a row that JKOC has helped out. As always, the JKOC team volunteered to operate one of the water stations as well as pose for pictures with several walkers, volunteers, and special guests of the event. The people from AHA Akron wanted to thank us for our continued support of their fight against cardiovascular diseases and stroke. For a recap of all the day's events, visit the JKOC Archives

Meanwhile, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Walk hosted a walk benefitting The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Several of our friends joined the Ohio Garrison team and walked the 5K course (in armor). While many described the journey as an "uphill" battle, then entire team finished the course. In addition to the walk, the troopers posed for pictures with fellow JDRF walkers and Star Wars fans of all ages. This marks the second year Ohio Garrison has fielded a team for the Cleveland area JDRF walk.

Congratulations to Beltayn and his team on a most impressive "Imperial March."

Grand Prix of Cleveland - UPDATE
Recently, The Jedi Knights of Cleveland were asked by promoters for the 25th annual Grand Prix of Cleveland to make an appearance during the race weekend. With the help of our friends from Rebel Legion and 501st, we made quite an impression with the over 118,000 fans (according to GPC website) at Burke Lakefront Airport.

Aside from posing for pictures with race fans, several of the ChampCar drivers, members of the pit crews, Miss Grand Prix of Cleveland, and even WEWS newscaster Stefani Schaefer wanted a chance to get a picture with their favorite Star Wars characters. For a full recap of the weekend's activity, visit the JKOC Archives.

In racing news, A.J. Allmendinger (#7 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) became the first U.S.-born driver since Michael Andretti to win back-to-back Champ Car races with his his win on Sunday.

Recently, The Jedi Knights of Cleveland got together to enjoy some of what makes us The Force of the North Coast.

On Saturday, June 17th the group hosted our bi-monthly meeting at one of the pavillions at Lakewood Park. Along with a chance to socialize with our fellow JKOC members, this month's meeting also featured our annual summer cookout.
